Suzanna Lubrano

A Cape Verdean singer from the Netherlands, Suzanna Lubrano is very well known in the Afro-Lusophone community. With great hits such as "Saida" and "Gone" she is known as the "Diva of Cabo Zouk". Her style of singing is very soulful and soft with hints of R&B. Listen to her and if you like her, request a song at our next social.

Nichols

Nichols began his career in the 90s releasing albums under various labels without much success. Only after creating his own label Erogen Music in 2004 did his musical career take off. We play lots of his songs specifically "Kerinha" and "Excite Moi".

Arash

Arash is a 35 year old Persian artist known for singing in his mother language only. Our favourite songs on this list are "Arash", "Pure Love" and "Khan L' Kalili" for their perfect mix of smooth and exciting. He has received 5 gold albums across various European countries and continues to make music in Sweden where he lives.

Johnny Ramos

Johnny's music is a sexy mix of R&B and Cabo zouk. Winning awards in Holland and Africa (Cabo Zouk and Kora awards respectively), he holds a place as one of the most popular zouk artists in the African Portuguese world. Check out a couple of his songs below, some of them from his recently acclaimed album "The Future" and let us know what you think!

Djodje

Djodje came out with two albums: one in 2006  called 'Sempre', which got very little publicity in the Brazilian zouk world; and the second in 2010 called 'Check-in', which was sick. At least four songs from that album are well known to any zouker and his popularity has been on the rise since. He is from Cape Verde and is part of Kaysha's crew of artists.

DJ Max Blacksoul

Max Blacksoul is part of the superstar NeoZouk producing team ZNL (Zouk Night Love). He remixes many different kinds of music, ranging from Rap to transcendental music. We personally like his softer, more meditative stuff, but if you enjoy zouking to a bunch of brothas bemoaning the loss of their 2005 Cadillac Escalade then you can look up more of his tracks on GrooveShark.

G-Amado

This 27 year old singer is born in Lisbon, Portugal and has musical influences in Reggae, Reggaeton, Hip hop, Kizomba and R&B. You can tell by the feel in his music that he is an extremely talented artist with a diverse set of sounds. I would rank him as high as Paulo Mac based on the popularity of his music and how much we love him.

Bruno Mars

This 27 year old singer has been producing smash hits over the last decade. Junyan has been sheltered from most pop artists that emerged after Y2K, so the discovery of Bruno Mars and his some of his beautiful R&B songs has been a real blessing!  Thank you to Darrell for playing "It Will Rain" on the ferry ride home from a gorgeous day of zouking on the beach!

Slaï

Originally from Guadeloupe, Slai began producing music back in the 90s! His music is considered classic in Montreal and for most Haitians, he is a household name. Our favourite songs on the list below are "Pronounce Mon Nom", "La Derniere Danse" (his super hit a decade back), and "Ce Soir ou Jamais" (Junyan's personal favourite).

Ricky Boy

Ricky Boy is a 29 year old artist that produces fantastic Cape Verdean zouk. He began his musical successes with the group Tissyh (consisting of friends and family) 12 years back, but began a solo career in 2009 with his sexiest album (in our opinion), "9909". You can hear amazing tracks such as "Bo É Tao Nice" and "Hora Ki Bu Txiga".

Celma Ribas

Celma Ribas is an Angolan singer who has lived in Germany for 14 years. She belongs to the group of zouk singers under the guidance of Kaysha that includes Nelson Freitas, Johnny Ramos, Mika Mendes, and Neuza. Her music is incredibly popular among Brazilian zoukers as it is upbeat and exciting. Check out her songs 'O Que Sinto' and 'One Love'.

Elliot Yamin

He was born Efraym Yamin in 1978. After placing third in American Idol (season 5) Elliot Yamin released a set of awesome albums. His self-titled album debuted at number 1 on the Billboards. I'm sure he would be shocked to know that we get down and zouky to his more melodic tracks such as 'Know Better' and 'You'. Check out him singing it live here

Ali Angel

Ali Angel is a relatively new artist. He's originally from Mexico, with roots in Martinique. Now he's in China and working for Mizik. Check out his tracks; my personal favourite is 7eme Syel. You can see a really nice video of Pasty (Netherlands) dancing to it. The style of music is quiet similar to zouk from Cape Verde, i.e. Artists such as Nichols, Kaysha, and Jamice.
