Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I find your studio?
Our address is 527 Bloor St West, 2nd
Floor just above the Yogurty's Froyo.

TTC: Get off at Bathurst Subway Station and walk Southbound on Bathurst (left when you exit the station). When you reach Bloor Street, cross to the south side and walk East. We are beside Lee's Palace (the large funky mural) above the Yogurty's.

By Car: We are between Bathurst and Spadina, on Bloor. There is paid parking on Bloor (unlikely) and on Bathurst (likely). There is also a Green P behind the studio accessible via Lippincott Road. Please arrive early to make sure you can find parking.

What do I wear?
Please bring indoor shoes. When you arrive you can put your coat and bag in the back on the coat rack.
Women: Flats are fine. If you want to get salsa dance shoes you can go to Malabar (try to avoid anything over 2-inches and make sure they have an ankle strap). Wear anything you're comfortable with.
Men: Wear light shoes. If you sweat a lot bring an extra shirt or a towel.

What happens if I miss a class?
You'll be in big trouble! Just kidding. Each course consists of 4 classes. Please plan to attend all 4 classes prior to registering as there are no make-up classes. To change courses or to postpone your course is a is an administrative charge of $15 (we work hard to match men and women and often our classes are full).

How do I get a refund?
We'll do everything we can to help however, we don't offer refunds! Please consider your schedule carefully before registering.

I've never danced before in my life! Can I still learn zouk?
Our introductory classes (Intro to Zouk) are absolutely beginner-friendly. Even if you've never set foot on a dance floor before, our classes start right from the basics and build gradually to get you comfortable dancing zouk.

What type of courses do you offer?
We offer an Intro to Zouk Course for first time dancers. You don't need any prior dance experience nor any dance partner. After you've finished the Intro to Zouk course then it's time for the Zouk Foundations Program

The Foundations program is a comprehensive 32 hour program that covers everything you need to feel like a comfortable, adept dancer at our practices and parties. After you've completed the Foundations Program our Foundations Choreography Course where we will show you how Junyan and Danielle use the foundations material in our social dancing via a short choreography to a song.

I'm an advanced dancer! How do I skip ahead?
The Foundations Program is a standalone program that represents our philosophy and style. It is an excellent program meant to be taken in its entirety. We may offer a faster program for trained dancers, please Contact Us to inquire.

How do I learn zouk quickly?
We suggest that you take a combination of group classes and private classes. Group classes introduce new ideas and private classes refine and help make them permanent! Lastly, go out and dance as often as you can! We have an amazing community of zoukers that would love to dance with you right from your very first class.

Do I need a partner?
You can come alone or with a partner. We rotate partners throughout each class, so you'll have the chance to try things out with multiple partners.

Where can I go to dance zouk?
We have two socials, 'Zouk Me' Tuesdays and our Zouktown Social! We also travel to other cities on occasion!

Where can I find zouk music?
We have a large collection of zouk artists that we feature every month! You can check it out here.

What happens if I miss a class and can't make it up?
If you are going to miss a class, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. Given 24 hours' advance notice, we will provide you with a credit that you can then use towards a private lesson or workshop. If you miss a class without such notification, you will not be able to redeem the value of the class.
